Sir Chris Hoy Backs Aerosensor’s Revolutionary Aerodynamic Cycling System
Aerosensor have announced Sir Chris Hoy as their performance advisor and investor. Aerosensor is a complete device system for optimisation and maintenance of aero performance on the road or velodrome without the need for a wind tunnel. This portable personal wind tunnel has the unique ability to make aero performance available to all.
Founder and CEO, Dr. Barnaby Garrood PhD has been working with world and Olympic champion, Sir Chris, over the past few months testing, perfecting, and simply enjoying, the unprecedented repeatability of this world-class combined body position and aerodynamic drag measurement. The complete system also includes a wireless lap trigger for ultimate optimal performance.
Founder and CEO, Barnaby, has many years of experience as a Formula One aerodynamicist at teams including Ferrari and Mercedes, with experience of wind tunnel, CFD and track testing methods. A keen cyclist himself, Barnaby wanted to apply his experience in F1 aerodynamics to measure aerodynamic drag on the road, just as he used to at the track in his F1 days. Barnaby explains “Aerodynamics is seen by many as inaccessible: A black art; complicated to understand; expensive to evaluate. It is our mission to democratise aerodynamics: to demystify it; to make aero performance available to all”. Barnaby continues “I’m elated with the exceptional success of Aerosensor and am thrilled to be bringing this innovative and revolutionary product to market with such a legendary figure”.
Aerosensor’s cycling patented probe design has been so successful that Aerosensor are now selling an adapted version back to F1. Founder, Barnaby, started off with a mission to bring F1 aerodynamic technology to cycling, and has now gone full circle with a number of teams running the yaw pitot probes in several racing formulas, including Formula One and Indycar.
Sir Chris Hoy commented “It’s be great to get back on the boards testing this new piece of kit. Aerosensor is a new cycling performance tool that measures your real-time aerodynamic drag coefficient to help you optimise your riding position and make you go faster for the same effort. Designed and used in F1, so it has some impressive pedigree and most importantly it actually works! I think this is going to be huge for the sport, allowing people without access to wind tunnel testing and sport science support the chance to explore their potential. It’s been really exciting to help develop the product and you’ll soon be able to try them yourself”.
You can view the patented Aerosensor aerodynamic cycling system and meet the CEO and founder at EuroBike in Frankfurt. Find Aerosensor in Hall 8 in the start-up section. For the next stage in their journey Aerosensor are asking for support via Indeigogo where you can become one of the first in the world to own these ground-breaking products and bring unrivalled aerodynamic testing to your training programme.
