Production Update – Round-up of 2022

Happy New Year from all of us at aerosensor!

Looking back on 2022 it has been a year full of significant progress across all areas.

Some of our 2022 highlights include:

  • Announcing Sir Chris Hoy as an investor and advisor.
  • Recruiting two more investors to the board: Joachim Ritter and Tim Greaves.
  • Running our stand at Eurobike.
  • Smashing through our fundraising target on Indiegogo.

December has been no less busy, and aside from product development (more on that later) here is some of our latest news:

  • We welcomed Marcus Bridgland to the team as a development and support engineer. Marcus is already stuck into final design of aerodrome as well as making some updates to our website.
  • We were invited to demonstrate aerosensor and aerobody at the UCI Track Champions League, where Sebastian Mora ran many laps over a couple of different outings to look at the effect of his posture and position in the peloton on aerodynamic drag. You can read our report here
  • Our founder and CEO Barnaby Garrood appeared in the Roadman Podcast as part of its founder series. You can listen to it below:

We are now less than 4 months away from when we start shipping to our Indiegogo supporters.  As we have mentioned before, this final development phase is a complex one, iterating between electronics and mechanical design, looking at different manufacturing technologies.

We have made a number of prototype parts to refine form and function and are almost ready to send to production.  In fact our first batch of aerosensor and aerobody circuit boards are in production as we speak, and we expect to take delivery of them in the next 2-3 weeks.

We’re delighted to share a few sneak preview renders of the latest designs.

Currently, whilst things have been taking more time than we had initially thought we still believe we are on track for April shipping.  January is a big month for us as we start taking delivery of prototype boards, and send plastics out for manufacture, so we will keep you posted.  Watch this space!

We could not have embarked on this journey without your support.  More significant than anything else that has happened this year is that we have shown there to be huge interest in our products, meaning what we are doing is valid.  12 months ago that was still an open question.  We look forward to shipping our first products in the coming months and bringing you the ability to test your real-world aerodynamics on the road!
